INTRODUCTION Cajù
Records is the result of the desire and commitment of Peter Kauffmann who has
always believed in Peppe Consolmagno and his projects.
At present four CDs all published in April 2005: Timbri dal Mondo,
Kalungumachine, Ishk Bashad and the prized Vasconcelos-Salis-Consolmagno.
A small editorial effort with the intent of giving body and voice to
works that are worth listening to and in which Peppe Consolmagno is engaged in
facing different musical and personal situations. Three of these CDs are the
result of live registrations on two tracks in digital.
This technique has the advantage, within limits, of letting the
listener live a unique, unrepeatable moment, without tricks or without
cheating, with nothing planned around a table.
a useful leaflet
in which every piece is described with a brief text and a splendid photo.
ABOUT CDs Peppe
Consolmagno & Timbri dal Mondo (Cajù 4558-2) Peppe
Consolmagno’s first CD as a soloist. “Timbri
dal Mondo” is the result of the recording of two tracks of his concert at
the Festival Mediterraneo and roundabout Sulmona in 1999.
Only two tracks were recorded in a studio in 2003, maintaining
however a live-like structure in accordance with the rest of the CD and the
ways with which these compositions are performed live. The live recording on
two tracks has the advantage, albeit within its limits, of letting the
listener experience a unique and unrepeatable moment, without tricks or
deceptions. Peppe
Consolmagno’s music allows one to enter into a creative sound area and
suggests images related to childhood, landscapes and imaginative visions.
The starting point in his compositions is to first let the
instruments “speak” and then
“converse” with them. Peppe
has always been marked for limpid sound and the strong research of timbre.
During his solo performance he uses, together with the percussion
instruments made by him and his voice, echoes and loop all created live
without the use of pre-recorded backgrounds.
For this reason every concert is a new experience.
The tracks Peppe
Consolmagno e Antonio Marangolo “Kalungumachine” (Cajù 4558-3)

1994 under the label Iktius. For its tenth anniversary it has been reprinted
by Cajù Records, catalogue number 4558-3. The photo on the front cover
reproduces an Amazon dawn; the one on the back “Encontro das agues” the
confluence of the two rivers that form the river Amazon.
The photos were taken by Peppe Consolmagno in 1985. This CD is the
result of only three afternoons spent in Bayer Studio in Mordano in the Ishk Bashad
